A special custom order...

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing the smiles that my creations bring to others!   Recently it was seeing the reaction to a card I designed for a custom order for a very special day.  This order was for a wedding card, something more special than just a "store bought" one...that is how it started...and my customer was pretty much giving me free range to make whatever I wanted.   This isn't always as easy as it sounds, as many of us know.  So I recruited the help of one of friends, who is an amazing card maker, and together we worked on what would be the most ornate card either of us had made!   It turned out better than I imagined and the friend that ordered it was elated by its beauty!  I believe it will be treasured by the happy couple that just tied the knot this past weekend!  I am very excited to share this creation with you!

Yes the frame is created to hold a picture!  Hopfully turning this card into a gift for the couple to share a wedding picture in too!

Birthday Banner

Okay I think I am officially hooked on banners!  It might have been a little predictable since I love working with the Big Shot but I did not see it coming.  As much as I love 3D projects, I don't make many....not really sure why but I do know that banners are my mojo at the moment!  I want to thank Emily Campbell, a demonstrator in NZ for her Christmas Banner, that I cased and shared as a class in November, as that is when it all started!  

As soon as I started flipping through the pages of the new Occasions Catalogue, I was searching for what paper and designs should I start with to make a banner!  I have to admit, Stampin' Up! did not make it easy on me, as the Designer Series Paper is amazing in the new catalogue!  It even looks good in the catalogue!  If you are like me, I am much more impressed with our papers once I see them in "real life" since as hard as Stampin' Up! tries, and I know they try hard, the true essence of the paper can not be captured by a camera!  It comes alive in your hands...okay maybe not alive, but it does appear with more brilliance and depth than I can ever see!  I absolutely love the new Cupcakes & Carousels Designers Series Paper!

I have made my first banner using the assortment of colours incorporated in this paper collection as I also wanted to have fun with the Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment kit!  This made making this banner so much fun and easy with embellishments at my finger tips.  Below is a picture of the contents of this kit.

Here is a picture of the banner I made and then a few close up pictures so you can see more of the details.  I did use the Lift Me Up, Balloon Adventures and Foxy Friends bundles to add more stampes and shapes too!

Did I mention I was hooked on banners?  Oh yes I did, so watch out as I am just about finished a banner using the opposite side of this collection of paper so it is highlights Bermuda Bay, So Saffron and Early Espresso!  Yay!  Watch for it...I will be posting it next week!

New Occasions Catalogue!  It is simply amazing!  After some cold and busy holidays here on Vancouver Island, I am so excited to start working on Spring!  Okay maybe I do feel love in the air and will start with some Valentine cards, but either way, I am thinking no more red and green for a bit and spring colours here I come!  Did I saw colour??  Yes I did.  I'm so excited that to try, use and teach with our new watercolour pencils!  Oh ya, adult colouring being taken to all new level here!  I loved the class I taught in the fall when we made colouring books using the Stampin' Up! stamps and ink and now we get to colour them!  Can you say hear my excitement?  I hope so!  I love colouring!  And oh my it is so relaxing!  Work, kids, stress...what I am supposed to take care of those things too....I guess so, but not when I'm colouring!   Ha ha, only teasing, I have the whole family colouring...that is what is so incredible about colouring!  It is definitely for all ages and watercolours are very forgiving making it easy for all ages too!
