A Demonstrator Like Me – Sheri Pearson

I am without words to express how amazing it felt to have a story in the Stampin' Up! Canada Newsletter about me and my passion to this amazing company. Below is the excerpt written by my friend, Laurie LaRose, a demonstrator in Alberta

Sheri Pearson lives in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, BC. Sheri grew up on the island and can imagine no better place to live. With great weather year round and so much nature just outside their door, her family takes advantage of all the beauty, getting outside and enjoying it. There are parks, playgrounds, trails to explore and a whole lot of ocean.
Sheri says being a Mom is first for her. Years ago, she started a bookkeeping business to be able to be at home and be that mom. Soon after, she became a single mom, raising her daughter and son and building that business to support her family. A few years ago, she met the man of her dreams and his daughter. They rounded out their family with the birth of their little boy.
Sheri has been a demonstrator for just about 4 years. She is a Silver Elite and has personal career sales of over $100,000.
Sheri had been first introduced to Stampin’Up! years ago, while she was single, by a friend who took her to a couple classes to get her out of the house, she enjoyed the classes but had little time to explore the hobby. She was invited out to classes again after she had the new baby, it was a lovely break. She loved making cards and the products. She didn’t own a single stamp, but her fiancĂ©, Jeff, saw how happy it made her, he told her she should go for it and sign up to become a demonstrator. She met up with a few friends to stamp together and share ideas. When they moved into a new home with a formal dining room, Jeff encouraged Sheri to turn it into a studio for a place to escape to for a bit of “me time”. An idea that she had given up on long ago. Seeing how happy it made her and believing she had real talent, Jeff encouraged her to begin teaching and doing classes in the studio.
By nature, Sheri is a shy person. This was the hardest thing she’d ever done. She started a club and began teaching classes and sharing ideas and techniques. She used much of the same work ethic she had used to build her successful bookkeeping business, to build her Stampin’Up! business. She held more classes and made sales. Without knowing the business plan and with no upline help (her upline had quit shortly after she signed up) she had no idea she was on track for Rising Star. Stampin’Up! contacted her and assigned her a Business Advisor to help her make plans, set and reach the goal of Rising Star in those first 18 months.
She does bookkeeping part time now with Stampin’Up! replacing much of that income. She does an average of 9 events a month. Her clubs and classes include; Monthly Hostess Club, Cardmaking classes, Technique Classes, Project Life classes, Holiday themed classes, All day events, Open house, home parties and Crop nights. She has a unique class called For Men Only Valentine's class.
She has a busy family life. The kids play on basketball, volleyball and football teams. Sheri is active in sports herself and enjoys being on the sidelines cheering on the kids and being part of their sports. Jeff helps with coaching of many of the sports and is a headcoach for two age groups with the football club, along with running that association in a nearby town. There is lots of travel for practices and games.
Sheri balances it and has continued to grow her SU business. She loves the person she is becoming by stretching her comfort zone and experiencing so many new things with Stampin’Up! She’s always been afraid of flying but has done it because she loves meeting up with SU demonstrators from so many different places at the events she has attended. She has earned two Getaway Vacations and needed to fly to them, too! She loves teaching and can’t imagine not doing it and meeting all the incredible people she is meeting. She has become a more confident person and she loves building confidence in others.
She believes there is magic in stamping. It makes being creative easier with all the tools we have. She loves the WOW factor of the first time someone stamps a card when they didn’t think they could do it. She loves seeing people leaving her classes with happiness, enjoying a break from daily life and for some of them, being able to leave behind some woes and enjoy the therapy of creating! She gives her customers inspiration. She allows them to be themselves in a way they didn’t know existed, to build confidence in this area of their lives. She loves when they share with her the projects they created at home from the classes she taught. She loves inspiring her ladies to be as creative as they want to be.
Her success is defined by being able to show someone something they didn’t know before they walked in the door. She says the Titles and the money earned are perks and what makes it a viable job, but the success comes from inspiring others. She believes this so much that she incorporated the word into her business name: Inkspirations with Sheri.
She sums it up: “inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated, to do or feel something, especially to do something creative" … my goal is to inspire others.....and in this process, I have truly inspired myself to be a better person and thrive to grow every day through my creativity and sharing.
